Ambleside training

Yesterday presented the opportunity to run in the lakes whilst following my friend on her mountain bike. A 15.8 mile circular route, with nearly 3,000 ft accumulative elevation. Sue trying to follow the mountain bike route, I was trying to keep up with the mountain bike.
Amazing to breathe the lake district air, follow lake district lumpy paths. Coffee shop rests included, naturally.

Manchester Marathon 2019

It was just a fab day. The weather was superb for running - overcast, cool, dry. The organisers are saying that 20,000 people participated this year - I'm not sure how many were running the full marathon compared to the relay race. So well supported, I am in awe of anyone who will give up an entire Sunday morning to hand out jelly babies and think of original comments to shout to runners.

I just had a blast this year, from start to finish. Even my dreaded 17-20 mile marathon dip didn't go too badly. I still love the alcohol free lager at the finish line.

Running buzz.

Manchester - still running for you.

Marathon day - here we are!

They've got a point????

Well, it's the Manchester Marathon next Sunday. I wanted to show my support for Manchester after the terror attack. So, a little trip to the Manchester Shop in town, to get a worker bee tee shirt (unofficial Manchester symbol), in which to run and probably make more of an idiot of myself than normal.

Unfortunately, the shop owners found out the purpose of the tee shirt. They were absolutely full of advice. 'You do know that there's a free bus around town? You don't have to run you know'. 'WHAT???? You paid to run around this place? You could just set off now for a few hours, save some cash' 'you know we're not accepting that top back now if it doesn't fit, don't try and return it if you're running in it, it'll smell very bad'. And so the little quips went on.

All for the spirt of Manchester and running.

Thanks guys. Ahem.
