London marathon 2018

So, back to this year. It was the hottest London Marathon on record. The advice from the organisers was to take it slow, don't even think about a pb, adjust your pace to how you feel.
Go slow? Yeah baby, I am the master of slow. Slow and steady is what I did. Legs sore, buzzing off the crowd and event the whole way. It was such a big deal to even get a place on this race: I loved the whole event feel. I just took my time, enjoyed looking around, soaking up the whole thing. In my opinion, the organisation was faultless, I found drinks and gels at every opportunity I needed.
Go London.

London marathon 2018

The London Marathon is quintessentially the opposite of everything I would normally go for in a race. Noisy, crowded, relentless tarmac pounding your knees. But it has to be arguably the best city marathon in the world, and such a thrill to be part of.

Crowd support is insane :every single mile is like the final mile of many other marathons : high volume screaming and shouting from all directions. Other city marathons have this support, I agree - look at New York. But London has a different edge, due to the number of fancy dress runners, charity runners, runners trying to break records. Surely no other race matches this. It feels like a 26 mile arduous party. Good for London, putting on such a running show. No wonder it has become such a national treasure.
