A perfect few running hours ?

Today; run. Last longish run before Hardmoors (15m inc lots of hills). Stop for caffeine. Wander around, daydream. Meet up with a close mate ; run some more. Trails, sunshine, catch up with life. Roz's first off road / longer run, coming back from injury - big congrats. Coffee and cake to refuel and celebrate.
A perfect few running hours ? As near as; blimey.

Endurance events - does the feeling spill over to real life ?

Any endurance event has its ups and downs. They are part of it, to be expected. Easy to talk about now, from the comfort of the sofa. Moments where you think you cannot do this; sections where you are laughing to yourself inside , at the very fact you are still running.

Somehow, you persevere.

Surely these feelings continue (albeit unknowingly) into other areas of life ? Into your 'real' life- work, day to day routines ?
Some parts feel they will never end; some parts feel fine.
That's just how it is.

Are these feelings stronger, after having catapulted and bumbled to the finish line of a huge event ?

I think so, very likely indeed.

And lets face it - and part of your everyday, where you're not hungry / soaked through / struggling up a hill / taping up blisters in tears - it all just looks so much more manageable, doesn't it ?

Running Anagram 19- 'RAG19'

The answer to the last anagram was unpretentious; surely a true description of trail fell/ultra running. There's no point in putting on your best gear with all this - it'll be covered in mud very soon. Plus, getting to the finish often feels more important than the time it takes to get there.

Anagram 19: A bit easier

O P I N H C M A

Clue: Any person who gets to the start line of any event, is one of these in my opinion.

Enjoy, any lovers of words.

Any opportunity

Sometimes it can be tricky trying to get the miles in during the school holidays. But, this proved a good way to try and run and get two small people out and about in the sun. Plus stop them cycling too fast down the hills..

More importantly....Dambusters !

One of the many interesting things about this area (I think), is that the Dambusters practised here.

Howden Reservoir

Managed to loop around the second reservoir, through the top of the valley. Amazing views, incredible scenery. The best way to train.

Derwent reservoir, Peak District

Managed to hit the Peak District today....brilliant running. Managed to loop around two of the three linked reservoirs in the Derwent Valley. Stayed mostly on the tarmac ed path, so easy running.

Getting back into running

There's a fair few people around at the moment, who have started running again. After a break from it, for whatever reason, this is such a nice time of year to start. All I can say is, please please keep going - there are at least a million good reasons for doing this.
If nothing else you can take some questionably dodgy pictures on the way. Which is fun in itself.

oh so very happy feet

New trainers to assist with tackling some trails. Good grip through the mud, although they feel a bit snug about the toes. Extremely purple- anyone will see me a mile away. Even better, not caked in filth yet. Lovely.
